Storytelling for Young People

PROGRAMMES

Using storytelling and performance techniques, we stimulate children’s imagination and give them the confidence to explore the world in and around them.

Importance of stories

Stories reflect all aspects of a changing society and illustrate how seemingly constant values and moral codes can change with the passing of time and the shifting of social patterns.

Benefits

  • Stories keep us in touch with who we are, why we are and where we come from in a historical and social context.
  • Stories underline the commonality of human beings. They can be used to highlight the differences between us and used to break down prejudice whether it is religious, racial or social.
  • Storytelling is a shared experience. It is enriching for both the teller and the listener. The storyteller is the catalyst for the listener’s imagination. Each listener owns the story.
  • Stories are applicable to both boys and girls.
